Curation 101: what we do so you don't have to

Products Forms & Why They Matter

TOP TIER: RAW / GENTLY COOKED

Balanced fresh food is highly recommended due to their high quality ingredients and moisture, low levels of processing and high nutrient retention in their natural forms.

As with all human food, it’s undeniable that fresh food is always better than processed foods! Works the same for our fur pals too.

A GREAT ALTERNATIVE: FREEZE-DRIED

Ever wondered why astronauts eat freeze dried food?

Freeze-dried food is similar to fresh food in terms of quality ingredients and nutrient retention. As there is no heat involved in the production process, it is a great and more convenient alternative to fresh feeding.

Simply rehydrate before feeding!

FOR THE PICKY: WET-FOOD

Do you have a picky dog? You might want to read on!

Wet or canned food is recommended due to its high moisture content and palatability. However, not all wet food is created equal. When made with the right ingredients, canned food is fantastic and can be fed as a meal or topper, especially for picky eaters!

We prefer wet food made with quality ingredients, without excessive binders, filler or gelling agents.

NOT TOO SHABBY: AIR-DRIED

Air-dried food goes through a process of drying with little to no heat, maintaining decent levels of nutrient retention, and uses high quality ingredients.

What's more? The ones we have curated ensure that nutrients that are not retained during the drying process are supplemented in the food.

SUPPLEMENTATION NEEDED: DEHYDRATED / BAKED

Dehydrated food is very similar to air-dried food. However, as some heat is involved in the drying process, it retains less heat-sensitive nutrients in its natural form.

On the other hand, oven-baked food is made with relatively lower heat in smaller batches through a slower cooking process which makes them more digestible than extruded kibbles.

Ultimately, supplementation is added to meet nutrient requirements, and the ones we curate ensure that your buddy will have the healthiest mix possible.

COULD BE BETTER: DRY FOOD / KIBBLES

Dry kibbles go through a high heat process called extrusion. High heat can cause several undesirable effects such as protein denaturation. Heat sensitive vitamins and minerals are also destroyed in the process. Dry kibbles also require a high amount of carbohydrates to bind the food together.

Being the most cost effective and convenient form of pet food, it is important to feed your pet good quality kibbles. Fret not, we have hand picked kibbles with good quality ingredients so you can shop with a peace of mind!
