Fort Canning is home to more than 20 community cats who rely on the kindness of animal lovers like you. Mrs Ng, a dedicated feeder, has been tirelessly caring for them and over 20 other cats in nearby areas for years. Starting her day at 5 AM and ending her night feeding rounds at 11 PM, Mrs Ng ensures these cats have food every single day. But this incredible effort has become a heavy financial burden.
To sustain the feeding of these cats, we are launching a donation campaign with a goal of $2,500. This amount will provide 134 cartons of cat food, ensuring approximately 6 months of meals for the Fort Canning cats while Mrs Ng works on their welfare and rehoming. These cats are skittish and need more time to adjust to human interaction, making the process challenging but not impossible.
Each donation goes a long way:
- 1 meal (8 cans) feeds several cats for 1 meal
- 1 day (15 cans) keeps most Fort Canning cats fed for the day
- 1 week (105 cans) brings them closer to rehoming with full bellies
Every $18.70 contributes a carton of food (24 cans), covering a day’s feeding needs and more. Any additional funds will support other community cats in need, ensuring nothing goes to waste.

Addressing Concerns About Feeding
We understand that feeding the cats alone doesn’t solve the larger issue of overpopulation, and it’s a valid concern. However, while long-term solutions are being implemented, these cats still need care. Mrs Ng, an AVS-licensed community cat feeder, and other volunteers are actively working on a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program to control breeding, prevent overpopulation, and ensure the cats’ well-being. This approach takes time, patience, and resources, as many of the cats are skittish and need to build trust with humans before they can be rehomed or sterilized.
Providing food is a crucial part of this process. It keeps the cats healthy, minimizes wandering in search of food, and enables Mrs Ng to establish the consistency needed for successful TNR efforts. Your donations alleviate the financial burden of feeding, allowing Mrs Ng to focus her energy on these impactful, long-term efforts.
